Rugby Competes for a National Championship

2021-2022 Rugby Team

The 2021-2022 Men's Rugby team has dominated this season. The team, lead by Coach Brian Hudspeth and Coach Liam Harnett, went undefeated in all their games,  outscoring their opponets 405-86 in total. Their hard work, dedication and grit have paid off as the team is traveling to Dallas, TX to play in the National Championship game on April 30.

The coaching staff takes pride in training up strong athletes to not only be superior rugby players but great men. This year there have been a couple athletes that have never played rugby before but will now be starting in the national championship game. Our program also has a strong sense of community as 99% of the team has come from the local high schools. Expanding their reach this year, the team has welcomed their first international student, Jacob Nhlamulo Nkwamba, from South Africa.

The athletes support each other in everything they do. "We are brothers, on and off the field." says captain, Hunter Hudspeth.  This season they are celebrating 10 players who were named to the Major League Rugby (MLR) U23 academy team, San Diego Legion. They also have 2 athletes, Dennis Kersee and Jesse Hamilton, signing training contracts with the San Diego Legion Senior Team.

As he looks back on the year and gets ready to travel to Texas, Captain Hudspeth says "They are all proud to be able to compete on a team that is able to bring home a national championshiop to Norco College!"

GOOD LUCK MEN!
